Hiroshi Sugimoto
杉本博司 1948 年出生於東京，是日本著名的攝影師與建築師。畢業於立教大學經濟系，1970 年前往美國加州藝術中心設計學院學習攝影，1974 年移居紐約。目前居住於東京與紐約兩地。
移居紐約之初，曾擔任短暫的攝影助理。1975 年決定以攝影作家為志業，並設立工作室。自 1976 年起於美國自然史博物館拍攝一系列作品〈透視畫館〉（Dioramas，1976-2012），並以此作品獲得 MoMA 攝影主任 John Szarkowski 讚譽並館藏。1977 年獲得紐約州 CAPS 獎學金，為期一年的獎學金讓杉本博司得以繼續從事藝術創作。
1978 年秋，獎學金的贊助停止，杉本博司與當時的妻子絹枝於蘇活區開設民藝店兼藝廊「MINGEI」，以買賣日本古美術品作為創作資金與生活開銷，其中包含以販售茶道相關的藝品。同年開始拍攝透過一次曝光捕捉下整部電影痕跡的系列作品〈劇場〉（Theaters，19 Llegir més...
