Cindy Sherman
Cindy Sherman（辛蒂・雪曼）本名為 Cynthia Morris Sherman，1954 年生於美國紐約州紐澤西市格蘭嶺，為 Pictures Generation（圖像世代）團體中最重要的藝術家之一，身兼攝影師、演員與導演，曾獲麥克阿瑟獎助金、哈蘇攝影獎、美國國家藝術獎等重要獎項。1972 年進入紐約州立大學水牛城分校攻讀視覺藝術時開始繪畫，憑攝影嶄露頭角後，持續探究身分建構的複雜背景，將藝術、名流、性別、攝影涉及的視覺及文化符碼拋擲於股掌間，一鳴驚人的系列作〈Untitled Film Stills〉集結 70 張黑白自拍肖像，視線繞過大眾傳媒再現的虛像又重返己身，映射出藝術片或 B 級片中的典型女性角色形象，年僅 26 歲時，便憑此系列在實驗藝術展演空間 The Kitchen 舉行首場個展。
