來自洛杉磯，旅居東京、京都的攝影師兼作家 Sean Lotman 著迷於30-50年代好萊塢電影常常使用的 Technicolor 底片，透過其特有的顯色，來紀錄旅行所見所聞離異迷幻的一面。每一張照片都是 Lotman 親自在暗房沖洗實驗，似乎也能感覺到他將虛構敘事（narrative fiction）的寫作技巧灌注於本書《The Sniper Paused So He Could Wipe His Brow》的影像之中。
作品之間夾著20首短詩，節錄幾首如下：
the meaning of life: you think you got it, then it slips away again (人生的意義：當你以為終於掌握它，它又再一次從手中溜走)
men hither, thither; fortunes made and lost– poets’ words read by no one
（此方、彼方的人；被賺進又散盡的財富-- 詩人們的話沒有人聽）
the sniper paused so he could wipe his brows and have a sip of water

then the clouds parted– a ray of light burst the sky– no one commented

footsteps in the sand… the wind blows, rearranging the world as it was
