Since 2002, the graphic design duo Helmo has been in charge of the visual communication for Jazzdor festival, dedicated to improvised music. This book presents a selection of fifty-six concert posters designed between 2019 and 2024, and looks back at the genesis and process behind the creation of this visual series through two interviews with Thomas Couderc and Clément Vauchez, and Jazzdor director Philippe Ochem.

To reflect the wide aesthetic variety of the music in the programme, Helmo calls on all possible expression forms: photography, drawing, painting, materials, documents, typography, texts or quotations. Everything is allowed to compose these micro-narratives that announce and accompany this singular music.

Helmo is a graphic design duo made up of Thomas Couderc and Clément Vauchez, based in Montreuil since 2007. They work in the broad field of graphic design: image creation, posters, signage, typography and editorial design. The duo has collaborated with cultural institutions (Palais de Tokyo, MAD…), festivals (Jazzdor, Chicago Architecture Biennial…), publishing houses (Anamosa, Entorse…) and associations (Secours populaire). Alongside these commissions, Helmo develops their own graphic work around books (Manhoru), multiples (Octoloop, Bachibouzouk) and exhibitions (Stratigraphie).
