植田正治
已逝日本現代攝影大師植田正治一生保持著「永恆的業餘精神」，正如其所自述：「不管醒來還是在睡眠當中，我只思考攝影。」他的攝影作品具絕對的可識別性，完美且自由的構圖和導演式的手法亦與當時日本主流的現實主義和紀實作品形成巨大反差，引領日本攝影躍進世界叢林、受到西方世界的矚目。
1913 年出生於鳥取縣境港市，植田在這個西部沿海的城鎮度過一生；當地豐富的神靈故事、鄰近軍事基地的外來文化、周圍的海濱與沙丘皆是他源源不斷的創作靈感，貫穿了大師的攝影生涯。自幼對繪畫和攝影深感興趣，他在十六歲時獲得家人贈予的進口德國相機，並受包浩斯、超現實主義等歐洲前衛風格所影響；自東京的東洋攝影學校（オリエンタル寫真學校）進修三個月的肖像攝影課程後，他返回故鄉，於 1932 年成立了「植田照相館」。
