Seventy-five years ago, Robert Capa launched Generation X, Magnum’s first large-scale collective project, sending photographers worldwide to portray the post-war generation. Through portraits and interviews, they explored young people’s daily lives, political views, aspirations, and hopes for the future amid the lingering impact of World War II, the Korean War, and Cold War tensions. In 2026, Magnum revisits this idea with a global portrait of Generation Z. Photographers are collaborating with young people aged 14–29 across more than 10 countries, exploring their lives and perspectives. Their portraits and interviews will appear this summer in Magnum Chronicles, Magnum’s annual publication.
