"What is the role of photography when the boundaries between the real and the imaginary become uncertain? The photographers whose work is presented in this issue do not fixate on pre-existing forms and values. They engage with an invisible reality prior to language and attempt to convey it in visible form. In their work, fragments of different memories, realities, and times collide and emerge as images. The past is rewritten by the present. The present is open to the future. One of this magazine's ongoing responsibilities is to embrace this interplay."
