Japanese photographer Misato presents her new book “Distance” with photographs shot on the streets of Tokyo’s Ginza district.
Misato focuses entirely on women. What is the distance implied by the title? Perhaps the physical distance, created by the telephoto lens? The admiration she feels for her subjects? In her images, the women appear strong-willed, resilient, and beautiful, whether they have been captured absorbed in thought or smiling back at the lens.

“I have stood on the same corner for fifteen years and watched people walk through the pedestrian zone in Ginza 4-chome, waiting for moments that transcend time.”
