William Eggleston
1939年出生於田納西州孟菲斯，成長於密西西比。William Eggleston曾於范德比大學就學一年、三角洲州立大學短暫求學一學期，之後轉至密西西比大學就學五年，然而這七年光陰他卻沒有得到任何學位，相反的因為得到好友贈送的萊卡相機而對攝影產生興趣。
啟蒙自Robert Frank與Henri Cartier-Bresson，最早接觸黑白攝影的William Eggleston，受到已故攝影師William Christenberry的介紹，於1965年開始針對彩色攝影進行實驗性創作。很快地於1960年代後期彩色攝影成為他的主要創作媒介。
